Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the deal a „grave mistake“ and warned the UAE not to allow Israel to be safe in the Gulf. Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called it a betrayal of Arab and non-Arab countries in the Middle East. A group of protesters with fewer than 100 residents gathered on August 15 outside the UAE embassy in Tehran, chanting „Death for America“ and „Death for Israel.“ Protesters also burned Israel`s flag.  The conservative Kayhan newspaper, whose editor is appointed by Iran`s Supreme Leader, warned that the deal had made the UAE a „legitimate and easy goal.“  The UNITED ARAB EMIRATES is the first Gulf state to reach an agreement with Israel. Others are expected to follow suit, including Bahrain and Oman. The agreement stipulates that Israel will suspend its annexation in the Palestinian territories on the west bank of the Jordan River and that it could pave the way for a solution to the Palestinian question. He was not able to form a real government majority. He eventually struck a deal with his main opponent to rotate the post of prime minister. He is also on trial for corruption. Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said the agreement would pave the way for peace agreements with other nations and welcomed the suspension of unilateral annexation. Yesh Atid Chairman Yair Lapid hailed the deal as an „important step“ for normalization with the UAE and said it showed that mutual agreements are the way forward for Israel`s relations with other nations rather than unilateral measures like annexation. Israeli Labor Party leader Amir Peretz also shared his view and said Israel`s development and security smile in such agreements.
